For the blog where I get all philosophical and stuff, go here: Socrates' Closet

Hi there.

My name is William Sisskind, and I am a poor college student.

This is a catch-all of the random thinkings and ponderments that I have over the course of the day. There are many. A hojillion, if you will.

I am an expert at many types of cheeses, I remodel old computers to make humans their dirty slaves, and I enjoy sipping monkey picked tea whilst watching the execution of wanted criminals.

I also do this webshow: You should check it out. Sorry, scratch that. You must check it out. Pigeons will peck out your eyes at my command if you don't.

No, I will not date you.

  1. Back in the home that I lived in daily for 18 years of my life before college.

Say! Is that a brand-new Subaru Impreza? And it’s mine? Zowwwwie!

Also, thanks to Stacey Sometimes for being the 50th follower again! She’s my awesome friend from the radio station and also the talent manager. Meaning I can’t blog about how mean she is. Because then she’d fire me. Just kidding, Stacey, you’re nice. Sometimes. Stacey Sometimes. OKAY, OKAY, I’LL STOP. XD

  2. Developer wants to build retail/residential project on Rt. 92 in the village of Manlius?

They’re trying to build a strip mall/apartment complex in the center of my home village. Read it. But if you read it already, here’s my opinion:

I’m all for this, it’s building on unused land that is currently an eyesore, it will bring stores and business to our quaint little village, blah blah blah. That’s all good, except that there are a few small issues.

    1) We’re right near the slightly larger town of Dewitt, which has more stores in the Mall and on Erie Blvd. If people want shopping, they’re probably going to go there before they go to the tiny village of Manlius. In terms of the apartments, they’ll be good housing for lower-economic-class citizens, but little else.

    2) This is going to mean money (unfortunately.) I don’t know how keen current residents of Manlius are in taking more money out of their pockets to pay for the taxes this beast will call forth (probably an extra $2.75 a household), but if they’re the same as every other Starbucks-drinking, overpriced-merchandise-spending, advertisementally-gullible American people as the next town over, you can bet they won’t be happy. I, on the other hand, don’t mind. So long as one of the retail spaces means some studio space for me. (Hopefully. One day. Over the summer. Please?)

    3. We’re the village of Manlius. I don’t know if you realized that. I told my friend from the Big Apple where I lived and he was like “Where?” I told my friend from California where I lived and he was like “Where?” I told my friend from BUFFALO, NEW YORK where I lived and he was like “Where?” Then I said “Syracuse” and they were like “Ohhhh.” I highly, highly doubt that any business is going to want to come to Manlius if 99% of the world’s population has no idea where the village really is. Think about it; we have TWO OTHER STRIP MALL COMPLEXES THAT WE ARE STILL TRYING TO REVITALIZE. How are we going to make a third one successful at the rate we’re going?

The bottom line: Unless you have a lot of local business interest and advertise the apartments really well, I don’t see this going anywhere if it gets approved. At the very least, maybe Thanks A Latte will reopen there. That would be nice.

    ~Will
